Newton, Surrey BC: A Family Neighbourhood Profile
Newton is bounded roughly by 64 Avenue to the north, the Serpentine River to the south, King George Blvd to the west, and 152nd Street to the east — though the “Newton” identity extends into the broader 80–104 Avenue corridor in many residents’ understanding. Newton is home to: one of the highest concentrations of South Asian families in Metro Vancouver, with large Punjabi, Gujarati, and broader South Asian community presence; significant Filipino, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities; a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and low-rise condos; and Surrey City Centre’s nearest suburban residential belt, with good access to the King George SkyTrain corridor and the proposed Newton SkyTrain station in future rapid transit plans. For families with young children, Newton’s high density of working families creates both high childcare demand and community infrastructure to support it.

Newton Childcare Waitlist: How to Secure a Spot
Newton’s licensed childcare waitlists — particularly for infant spots at MCFD-licensed centres — are among the most competitive in Surrey BC. Newton’s high family density, combined with limited licensed childcare supply, means that desirable spots are taken months to years in advance. Newton childcare waitlist strategy: Apply to 5–8 MCFD-licensed Newton centres simultaneously. Apply as early as pregnancy — infant spots especially require 12–24 months lead time. Don’t assume a centre near your home has a shorter waitlist — quality Newton centres have waitlists of similar length regardless of exact address. See our complete waitlist strategy guide.
